Quality Basketmaking in the heart of Norfolk

Rob & Julie King

English Willow Basketworks

We are makers of first quality English baskets, made from the finest English-grown willow, some of which we grow ourselves. All the colours in our baskets are natural, as we use different varieties for different bark colours. We do not import any baskets or willow from abroad, nor do we sell baskets made by anybody else.

Below is a picture of a selection of baskets from our workshop, representing the  type of items that we try to keep in stock. However, this is by no means all of our range, and individual items may vary in colour and size. It is very difficult to keep a constant stock, as we cannot  guess what items will sell and when.

As you can see, the baskets are made in a variety of colours, and colour combinations.
The three main colours are:-

White - Stripped willow, with an ivory white colour - smooth

Buff -  Stripped willow that has been boiled, allowing the bark to stain the wood a pale chestnut colour - smooth

Brown - Unstripped willow in its natural state, with colour variation depending on variety, but mainly Green-brown - rough

Traditional items such as potato pickers, eel traps, log skeps & boxes, butchers & bakers arm baskets, market & wheelie shoppers, shopping baskets  fishing creels and boxes, cycle baskets hampers, and fine domestic work such as wet washing & linen baskets are just some of the standard items offered.  Other items have been created to give an extensive and varied selection.

We also offer a made-to-measure service for items such as log baskets and kitchen drawer or shelf baskets, and would be happy to offer a quote for any basket to your own design or measurements.
